Lyrics

Memory Lane

He was sitting on that park bench watching life pass by
Smiling at the children starring at the sky
Making brand new memories at the age of eigthy-five
And from what he can remember these will be
The best moments of his life

A memory is a memory whether its years or one day old
Every life is precious with a story to be told
How quickly time will come and go
Then one day it will be clear
That every memory is an opportunity to relive
The time that was spent here

I watched him every day from my high rise studio
He was living in that green space as if it was his own
The flowers and the trees and all the day's activities
I chuckled as I realized that he had a front row seat

That park bench now is empty but that memory still returns
And if you give me one more minute
I'd like to share what I have learned
Memory Lane is not a place we think too much about
Our lives just get too busy moving all about
But sure enough the time will come
When the message will be clear
Memories are reminders and the proof
That we were here

Well now its me that's on that park bench
I've now got that front row seat
I'm living in that green space as if it all belongs to me
And every now and then up in that high rise studio
I notice someone looking down at me
Through that very same window

Memory Lane is not a place we think too much about
Our lives just get too busy moving all about
But sure enough the time will come
When the message will be clear
Memories are reminders and the proof
That we were here
