Lyrics
Morning Me
I thought I’d surprise my sweetheart and arrive at her place unannounced
Early in the morning to make breakfast at her house
So I picked up some breakfast groceries at the local grocery store
Put the pedal to the metal, whistling Dixie as I drove
So I pulled up in the driveway and I knocked on her front door
Waited a couple of minutes, or maybe a little more
Finally that door swung open, there she stood in front of me
I dropped the bags on her front porch, rubbed my eyes in disbelief
There she was her hair undone, not yet dressed her PJ’s on
No colored lips or rosy cheeks, standing there in front of me
As I stood at her front door, she could tell by the face I wore
With a smile she said there’s someone I’d like for you to meet
Honey, this is Morning Me
She invited me to step inside helped me pick up those groceries
I just couldn’t help staring and I hoped that she didn’t notice me
I kept trying not to look, as the breakfast food was cooked
I almost couldn’t eat, as we sat in that breakfast nook
There she was, her hair undone, not yet dressed, her PJ’s on
No colored lips, or rosy cheeks, sitting there in front of me
As I sat and stared some more, she could tell by the face I wore
With a smile she said aren’t you glad you finally got to meet, Morning Me
Well as the morning hours passed by, there was something I began to realize
I had never seen this side of her before
Soon I became hypnotized, and then I became mesmerized
I had to admit this Morning Me I truly do adore
So I said to her with a twinkle in my eye
Sweetheart, for the record, I’m so happy and I’m so pleased
I got to meet Morning Me
