Lyrics

There’s Something In The Mail Truck

Just the other day, I had some thoughts ‘bout you
Got to thinking about something, special I could do
So I did a lil’ driving, and I spent a lil’ time
To do a little shopping, to see what I might find

As I turned the corner and headed down aisle six
Something caught my eyes, and I said, That is it!
I put it in my cart, and walked up to check it out
This is the perfect something, of that I have no doubt

I took it to the Post Office, to have it weighed and stamped
And all the Postal workers, gathered round to get a glance
They said, That is just awesome, that girl will be so pleased
Then they fought among themselves about who would make that delivery

There’s something in the mail truck, that’s headed out your way
But exactly what it is, there’s no way I’m going to say
There’s something in the mail truck, arriving any day
There’s something in the mail truck and I guess you’ll have to wait

Is it green or yeller, golden tan or blue
Is it bigger than a breadbox, this something that’s coming to you
Is it soft or is it firm, is it square or is it round
I guess you’re just have to wait and see when it arrives in town

Is it something that you wear, is it something that you eat
Is it something for your house, or just a card filled with money
Tell me have I piqued, your curiosity
As you’re waiting for the mailman, wondering what it could be

There’s something in the mail truck, that’s headed out your way
Exactly what it is, there’s no way I’m going to say
There’s something in the mail truck, arriving any day
There’s something in the mail truck and I guess you’ll have to wait

Is anticipation growing as you wonder what it is
Do you lay awake at night, just thinking about it
Do you wake up in the morning with this thingy on your mind
Is the fact that I won’t tell you, seem a bit unkind

Are you waiting patently, or pacing round the floor
Wondering what that mailman will be leaving at your door
Are you looking out the window, did you take off work to see
Are you ready to run right out of there, to meet the mailman down the street

There’s something in the mail truck, that’s headed out your way
Exactly what it is, there’s no way I’m going to say
There’s something in the mail truck, arriving any day
There’s something in the mail truck and I guess you’ll have to wait

Okay, now you’re probably getting a little excited right about now
So maybe I should give you a little clue as to what this thing might be
Hmm let me think here, Aah, Hmm, Aah, Well you know
On second thought, I think I’m just going to keep you guessing
Limbo baby, full blown surprise
Oh yeah, good luck get’n anything outta me, my lips are sealed, not a peep
That’s right, nut’n, absolutely nut’n, silence is golden girl
You just keep looking out that window for that mail truck to arrive

There’s something in the mail truck, that’s headed out your way
Exactly what it is, there’s no way I’m going to say
There’s something in the mail truck, arriving any day
There’s something in the mail truck and I guess you’ll have to wait
